Chimurenga

It was once a land of hope

Chimurenga-front-and-back-covers.jpg

A turbulent coming-of-age in a country at war with itself

This is literary fiction, set in Africa.

Zimbabwe has been called a "Land of Hope" several times.

The early colonial settlers in the late 1800s figured they had found their Promised Land.

After World War II new settlers flocked to a country called Southern Rhodesia that offered a virtually perfect climate, boundless opportunities and an affordable cost of living. A generation later, they found themselves in the middle of what has become known as The Second Chimurenga - a struggle for independence from the white colonial rule.

In 1980, when that independence was finally gained, Zimbabwe again became a land of hope after being reborn in a firestorm of war.

"Chimurenga" was published by The Book Guild on 28th April 2022
